The Woolpack

Work with Us

Junior Sous-Chef - March 2022

This is a rare chance to join the kitchen team in one of the country’s most iconic and infamous pubs. With a rich, tapestried history and inspiration for famed writer Laurie Lee, the Woolpack perches, almost alpine-like, on the edge of the spectacularly panoramic Slad Valley. Untouched by time, this corner of the Cotswolds honours those who have been before, remaining a lawless hub of music, writing and conversation.

Over the course of the pandemic, the pub first adapted and then evolved, to a local village shop, then an extension, then a brand new kitchen.

Owned by artist Dan Chadwick for twenty-three years, the Woolpack came under new general management in the last year. The new team is enthusiastic and close-knit, each member personally invested in the pub and its success. We are a diverse bunch, coming from a variety of backgrounds across the country and the world.

Recently entirely rebuilt and refurbished, our reputation is highly regarded. We have a loyal and discerning clientele and our menu is ever-changing, offering old favourites teamed with an increasing amount of unusual, eclectic fare. This is a chance to work with fresh, local, seasonal produce to build an ever-changing, ever-evolving menu, with creative input and working in a small, close knit team unit.

Head Chef Adam Glover has run the kitchen for the last ten years, overhauling and transforming traditional pub fare into expansive culinary thinking.

Finally - for those of you who don't know Stroud - this is an opportunity to live and work within the unbeatable surroundings of the spectacular Slad Valley, near the historic market town of Stroud.

Famed for its artistic, free-thinking and activist residents, Stroud is to this day a thriving, diverse community. The surrounding valleys not only offer rolling hills, astounding views and a world-class farmer’s market, but an ever-increasing amount of cultural diversity, world celebration and festivals, while maintaining its grassroots commitment to fighting for fairness, sustainability and like-minded ideals.
